The First Day

Todays the first day with out Chantix and I am a little worried how I'm going to feel today. I have chosen to skip the last month of medication because I really don't like taking the stuff. I have not gotten any good sleep since I've been taking Chantix. Maybe its all the dreams or what ever but my eyes are all ways very tired looking, and I feel like I need some good sleep.

This last week I have been slowly cutting down my dosage like this;
Mon. 1Mg morning
1Mg night

Tues. 1Mg morning
.5 Mg night

Wed. .5 Mg morning
.5 Mg night

Thur. .5 Mg morning
.5 mg night

Fri. .5 Mg noon

Sat. .5 Mg noon

Sun. .5 Mg after noon

I did this to ween my self off chantix because I have noticed when I forgot to take it in the past I had some pretty bad withdraws. I would be mad or sad, its was a lot like when I would stop smoking cold turkey. But to day is going fine, no withdraws so far.

I feel a lot better off chantix, but I am so glad I took it. It was a hard road but not as hard quiting with out anything.

Don't believe the Hype

I have been seeing a lot of news coverage about how chantix will make you jump off a bridge or at least make you think you should jump off a bridge. Don't believe this, it is just an attempt by the news to make a story out of this very helpful drug. It might even be big tobacco trying to play down the effectiveness of chantix. It would not surprise me one bit, you know this drug could put a real beating on the tobacco companies. I am sure they will do every thing in there power to stop the drug(ie. making it sound dangerous and getting the FDA to ban it).

I have had an google alert on chantix. For those of you who do not know what a google alert is, this is it. You give google a topic and every day it will search for new news about that topic and then email you the link. So any way I have been receiving alerts every day for 2 months and 9 out of 10 are about how bad chantix is. They should be praising this super drug. People should be careful about what they take but I have to say from experiences Chantix is OK.

40 days

I have not smoked in 40 days and I am doing great. I have been working out and I am starting to get a lot more energy, but its still hard to wake up. I have even went out and had some drinks and did not smoke.

Its been 18 days with no smoke!

I like being a non-smoker.

Bananas Rock!

Bananas are the perfect packaged fruit. Just think about it, it has a thick wrapper with a little handle at the top to open it. And when you do open it the wrapper splits down in to 3 equal parts, plus the wrapper is biodegradable. The curved shape is ergonomically shaped so the it does not cause distress to you wrist while consuming it. I think god spent a little more time making bananas.

I have been eating a lot more fruits since I stopped smoking. Well, I never ate fruits when I smoked. Its amazing how you become healthier, not just by quiting smoking but by eating better and working out more.

Life is good!

What happens after I quit Chantix?

So whats going to happen when I stop taking Chantix?

Is it going to be like when I stop smoking cold turkey?

Their has to be withdraws when you stop. I just hope its not to bad. I did some research and some people have to ween their self off by taking smaller doses everyday. but I was thinking of taking it for just 4 weeks not the 12 weeks chantix suggest. I think the least amount of time I am on this stuff the better, I can't keep sleeping all the time and having crazy dreams every night! I just want it to lessen the first withdraw symptoms of smoking then I think I can handle it after that.

I am sleeping so much!

Well its the 5th day I have been taking Chantix and I am sleeping so much. I thought it was because I went skiing last week and I was just tired. But I have been back for a week now and I am all ways sleeping. I have been sleeping around 12 hours every night, this is crazy because I never sleep more than 7-8 hours even if I am really tired. I just woke up 2 hours ago and I want to go back to sleep, whats going on.

But on the other hand I only smoked 3 ciggs yesterday and when I did smoke it was like I was smoking a carrot, in that I mean I don't get the "ah" when I smoke. The smoke does not do any thing to me.

I had another bad dream last night. It was pretty crazy and so long. It felt like I was having the same dream all night, so weird. I hope all of this is worth it and I stop smoking for good. Maybe this is like hazing and once I quit theres no way I will start back again after what I went through.

Strange Dreams

Pfizer was not lying when they said that the most common Chantix side effects articulated by Pfizer like a mantra are nausea, sleep disturbance (trouble sleeping, changes in dreaming), constipation, gas and vomiting. I have been having the strangest dreams, they started the first night I took Chantix. Last night, the dream I had seamed very long and was very disturbing and a little violent. But I was watching the True channel about violent criminals robbing and fighting people before I went to sleep, so maybe that had something to do about the violent dreams. But I can not remember the last time I had a bad dream, really I don't have many dreams or remember the dreams at all.

I have tried to quit smoking many times before and have never had these symptoms. Its only the 3rd day and my sleep has not been very good so I hope this stops soon so I can get some good rest.

Its has been 3 days now

Its been 3 days since I started Chantix and I can all ready tell its working. Monday was the first day and I just smoked 3 cigarettes, that pretty good when I smoke 10 to 15 a day. Tuesday I just had 2 and I am filling good about finely stopping! I had a chest cold last week so that has helped alot as well. I plan to document this process because I have read about Chantix being dangerous and I would like people to know what I was thinking if this drug does make me go crazy and jump off a bridge or something.
